What does having dyscalculia entail?
i’ve always been slower than everyone else to understand math concepts in school. i struggle with mental math. i can’t real analog clocks.

i have ADHD
How “extreme” are your symptoms?
i would say my symptoms are moderate. i can do basic addition and multiplication on paper, but i cannot do subtraction or division AT ALL without a calculator. i can’t read analog clocks and i get easily confused by equations

What was it like growing up with dyscalculia?
very painful, i felt like i was just an idiot in school because teachers didn’t know what dyscalculia was
Before you were diagnosed, how did you feel about the symptoms you experienced?
i thought i was just dumb
Do you find that Dyscalculia isn’t commonly known, as compared to dyslexia?
definitely. when i was a kid everybody knew about dyslexia and i knew dyslexic kids but even know i still need to explain to people what dyscalculia is and i often need to compare it to dyslexia for them to get it

geometry
Is there anything you do that helps manage your dyscalculia?
i use a calculator for everything
Do you tell people you have dyscalculia or is that something that you hope would remain more of a secret?
i tell people but i feel embarrassed

i feel embarrassed and i wish i didn’t have it
Is there anything that having dyscalculia has prevented you from doing that you really wish you could do?
i love science but i feel intimidated from higher education because of the math

i’m not stupid and i can do SOME math
