I wouldn’t say necessarily telepathy, but I do know if somethings going on with her. For instance when we were younger she had a cancerous mass removed from her side and when we were at the hospital I said “She should be done right about now” and right after the doctors paged us that she was out of surgery and we could go see her. We also say the same things at the same time and use these stupid shorthand phrases and noises to talk to each other and no one else understands it.

People always mistake us for each other, half the time I just go with it unless it’s someone from work or college classes.

We don’t really have any embarrassing stories

I feel like every twin has, especially when you’re younger. It’s always “the twins” never you as your own person. We always got invites grouped together, same birthday parties, same gifts sometimes too. We always wanted to be our own individual people but still twins
Do you sometimes compare yourself to your twin?
Sometimes, she’s more of an academic than I am. I excelled in high school and took college courses and always did great but school during the pandemic made me so depressed I just ended up dropping out. She’s graduating this year and I always wonder what if I stuck with it but I make great money and have a job I love.

When we were younger and full of teenage rage she threw a guitar hero guitar at my head and I threw a perfume bottle at her. We’re all good now.
Growing up, how was your relationship with your twin?
It’s always been a positive relationship, around middle school we tried to become more individual and I think we tried to hard for a while and floated away for a second but it didn’t last long.
How is your relationship with your twin now?
She’s my best friend, and I wouldn’t change anything.

More about your experience as a twin
As an identical twin, and a woman, when we hit about 15 men started getting really weird. Obviously it’s a thing for men, like a fantasy. It made us feel so so weird. For a while I had to delete recent pictures of us because random men would comment on social media posts. My dad was super protective of us and that made it worse. I wished just existing didn’t objectify us, but I would never change being a twin. It’s made my outlook on life so incredibly different. Other people have to look for their twin flame, someone who just gets them and a shoulder to lean on. I will have one until we die and there’s something comforting about knowing she’ll always be there no matter what.
