How would you describe a barefooter?
A barefooter is someone who rarely wears footwear and socks, even in public places.
How long have you been barefoot?
for the past two months
Why did you decide to be barefoot?
It’s been very hot where I live and I have been getting tired of wearing shoes and socks all the time.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how “extreme” are you?
2; I’ll go barefoot at home or in places where it is normal such as a pool or beach.
What is your opinion on shoes and socks?
Shoes should be worn in most places except for pools and beaches.
Have you ever not been able to go in somewhere/refused service because you didn’t have shoes on?
No, I always wear shoes where I am required to do so, in places such as a restaurant, store, library, etc.
What are the best and worst reactions you have gotten? How do you deal with bad reactions and unsolicited opinions?
I have never received any reactions or unsolicited opinions about being barefoot.
How do you go about feet care?
I use a PedEgg or pumice stone on my feet almost every day. I make sure I remove any gunk between my toes regularly.
Have you dealt with fetishers?
No but I am one. I have had a female foot fetish for at least 30 years. I don’t remember any details about how it started. I do have Asperger’s syndrome so I wonder if there is a connection between the two things.
Do you walk on everything or are there surfaces you don’t walk on?
When I am barefoot inside, I only walk on carpets or floors. When I am barefoot outside, I only walk on the sand at the beach or any surface at the pool.
What is your favorite surface to walk barefoot on and why?
I like walking on carpets because it feels so soft.
How do you handle cold temperatures?
I put my shoes and socks back on unless I am at home. I think it is socially awkward to expose my bare feet and toes outside in cold weather.
In your experience, what season is best to be barefoot?
Summer without a doubt since it is the hottest time of the year, and spring would be my second choice. I feel this way because people are more likely to be barefoot.
What are your fears that stem from being barefoot?
I fear that I will get negative reactions from being barefoot and that people will say I have ugly feet and toes. I also fear that I will expose my feet to harmful bacteria and infections, especially if I go barefoot outside.
What advantages of being barefoot have you experienced?
I can wiggle my toes easier.
What are things to NOT say or do to barefoot people?
Don’t call them crazy or insult the appearance of their bare feet and toes.
How do you feel about how barefoot is portrayed in media? What are some of your favorite pieces of media with authentic representation?
Lots of female celebrities have been barefoot in movie and television scenes, so I think it’s more common than people realize. My favorite barefoot television scene is from an episode of the sitcom 2 Broke Girls Season 5 Episode 6 where the actress is sitting on the couch with her bare feet stacked on a coffee table. The camera gives a great close-up of her soles and then fades away.
Another favorite barefoot television scene of mine is from the sitcom Married…With Children Season 7 Episode 1. This scene involves a little boy around 5 years old, and one of the characters is playing “This Little PEGGY” with his toes. She says “This little Peggy never goes to market. This little Peggy stays home. This little Peggy eats bon-bons YUM! And these little children have none (while pointing at her son and daughter)! She does nothing with the child’s pinky toe. I like this scene because I dream of playing “This Little Piggy” on a cute young lady’s toes. That’s part of my female foot fetish.
What would you like to say to barefooters?
Keep on baring your soles and wiggling your toes! Let your little piggies be free! Embrace compliments about your feet and ignore the criticism.
What would you like people to know about being barefoot?
It really is fun and showing your bare feet and soles will make you more confident.
Tell your story, opinions, experiences.
I am new to barefooting. Really the only experiences I can share go all the way back to my yearly physical exam as a child. I was barefoot for the entire exam. When it was time for the doctor to check my feet and toes, he would wiggle each toe as he examined it. He looked between each toe and put his finger in between. He would ask me to wiggle my toes one foot at a time and then do both feet together. He checked my plantar reflex on each sole too.
